MUMTAZ MAHAL RING

The Mumtaz Mahal ring is the Taj Mahal meets William Llewelyn Griffiths’ signature gothic cathedral style.
Handcrafted in both 18ct yellow and white gold, this ring is a testament to William’s skill and vision as a jeweller and artist.
The ring’s namesake Arjumand Banu Begum was the second and most beloved wife of Emperor Shah Jahan, for whom the Taj Mahal was built as a monument to their love upon her death. His nickname for her, Mumtaz Mahal loosely translates to “jewel of the palace” a fitting description of this ring’s extraordinary centre stone; a dazzling citrine designed and exquisitely hand-carved specifically for William Griffiths by multiple AGTA (American Gem Trade Association) award winning master gem cutter and artist Derek Katzenbach.
Conjuring a secret paradise for its viewer, the setting’s design depicts a grand cathedral with vaulted ceiling which serves to draw in the maximum amount of light to pass through the stone and enhance its vibrancy. Four 3mm x 2mm pear shaped rubies embellish the claws and crown each pavé set archway with a mass of sparkling white diamonds. The central citrine measures 17mm x 17mm x 12mm (approximately 20 carats) and features a window on each side through which the viewer can gaze upon the intricate patterns carved beneath. The patterns appear to change and morph as they are reflected from the top of the stone where an eight pointed star enclosed within a circle can be seen, a gentle tilt of the ring and a lotus flower appears to bloom within the stone.
Royal blue vitreous enamel lattice adorns each side of the ring, punctuated with two square cut white diamonds (4mm x 4mm) and turrets crowned with 6 bullet cut blue topaz (2 measuring 4mm x 5mm, 4 measuring 2.5mm x 5mm).
Measuring 19mm above the finger, 29.95mm at its widest point and 21mm in depth, this sumptuous ring is definitely a statement piece. It sits comfortably on the hand and has a marvellous weight to it.
The ring weighs 28.29 grams and fits finger size X (Australian & British size) or US size 11 5/8.
