Based on European folklore, the Wild Hunt was a spectral soul raving chase given by an army of lost souls, deathly dogs, ghostly riders, and sometimes fairies or Valkyries, led across the sky by a supernatural overlord such as Odin, Herod or the devil depending on the culture. To see the Wild Hunt was to foreshadow some war or plague, to be abducted from one’s sleep into their ranks, or whisked away to the underworld or fairy kingdom for eternity.
The ring’s top panel with it’s medieval silhouette resembling an ornate shield features at it’s centre an enrapturing 11mm x 5mm violet blue marquise cut Tanzanite surrounded by four round brilliant cut yellow diamonds and a millegrain border pave set with thirty six treated black rose cut diamonds.
Measuring 4.2mm above the finger, 25.5mm high, 21.8mm at its widest point and 21.3mm in depth, this sumptuous ring is definitely a statement piece. It sits comfortably on the hand and has a marvellous weight to it.
